Rescue Diver

Overview

The PADI Rescue Diver program makes the serious subject of accident prevention and management enjoyable and rewarding. Until now, the emphasis of your training has been you and your dive buddy, but this program teaches you to make diving more safe and enjoyable for yourself and others.

So far, you've completed entry-level and advanced open water training, logging quite a few dives in the process. During the PADI Rescue Diver course, you'll learn how to foresee, prevent and manage potential diving accidents. This may include anything from assisting a tired diver to handling a possible emergency. Throughout the course, you'll practice applying the knowledge and skills that can make the difference in the unlikely event problems do arise.

The Rescue diver manual provides you with in-depth information to enhance your diving knowledge, which will prepare you for the academic training (lasting one day) that you will receive. Then follows some practical training in Confined Water, covering such aspects as search patterns and dealing with unconscious and panicked divers. Finally, your training will continue into Open Water, whereby you will be expected to perform the skills practiced in confined water and complete some scenarios, bringing everything covered on the course together.
